Firstly can we thank all our faithful and new supporters. The loyal pubs and clubs, the deli`s and shops, bars and restaurants. Theaters and sports events, home events and gift boxes given as gifts.

We hope this year has been a successful, happy year for you all. We brewed Black 5 in memory of the Southport to Preston railway crews to remember Ronnie Halsall`s passing too.
In autumn our colours were Bronze and Gold as we won these awards . Our Dark Night goes through to the National`s in March.Old Shrimper won Bronze.

Santa`s Brew 4.2% is out now with our warming Old Shrimper, as usual. So all that is left to say is; A Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all. From all at Southport Brewery,

Due to popular demand our latest beer, BLACK 5 STOUT , has been released earlier.
Like today.August 18th.

This 4.5% stout is brewed with beech smoked malt,to remember the age of steam. It is a dark, rich smooth stout with a creamy head.
All our beers relate to local topics. This stout is a piece of personal history too.
BLACK 5 STOUT, is brewed to remember the driver of the last steam train from Preston to Southport, 51 years ago on September the 6th.
Ronnie Halsall was the driver of this Black 5 steam engine.

Ron started his work for British Rail as a cleaner at Derby Rd. Sheds. (Roughly where ASDA is now). He worked his way up to be a Fireman then he finally qualified as a driver of the steam trains out of Southport`s Chapel Street Station.

Ronnie Halsall was my Dad and he worked for British Rail for 46 years. Dad died earlier this year, at 87 years of age. We always used to say Dad`s claim to fame was that he drove the last train from Preston to Southport . Well! He now has a beer brewed to commemorate him being the driver on this historic journey.Paul has chosen the ingredients to replicate the steam theme.

The beer will be ready for the 6th of September.

This is a picture of that last journey in 1964 and one of Ron on the Electrics.
There`s a new brew coming from Southport Brewery in September.

Thanks for your continued support in our 10th year. We hope you have a great time. All the best to you all from SOUTHPORT BREWERY LTD.
Another win for Southport Brewery beers.

Old Shrimper won Gold at the S.I.B.A. North West Bottled Milds, Old Ales, Porter and Stouts competition in Bolton (2014). Paul Bardsley and Paul Crawford are seen collecting the award from a sponsor.
Well done !
IT IS 10 YEARS since the first barrel rolled out of the Southport Brewery.

We now Brew 5 regular and a few seasonal beers throught the year. Our product is a handcrafted, traditional beer, linked by name to local topics. We supply many of our original outlets plus many new ones too.

Southport Brewery also has a good trade in bottled beers, mini casks and the "Pull your own", barrels. These are very popular with weddings, parties & festivals etc. Our beers also travel nationwide through a couple of wholesalers. Some bottles even found their way to France last year, to help an ex-pat celebrate in style. Our first export.

The beers have won many awards, national, regional and local. Our biggest reward is our customers enjoying our ales and we thank them for their continued support. Time has flown by and we are still enjoying brewing quality, flavour-some real ale. These ales are made with British malt and a choice of hops from around the world, including English. It was a gamble to pack the regular job in 10 years ago, here's to the next 10 years.

Natterjack is now available in bottles. Old Shrimper will be available in bottles soon.
Last week Paul Bardsley from Southport Brewery was delighted to be presented with a SILVER AWARD at the S.I.B.A. beer competition in Staveley. Paul’s beer , Dark Night was awarded second place in the Mild category from a host of beers brewed from the North West of England.

The popular mild from Southport Brewery is named Dark Night to reflect the weather conditions and mood of a tragic night when a ship called the Mexico got into serious difficulty off the Southport Coast.

This is our most significant award since 2009, when our Golden Sands ale won Champion Best Bitter at the Great British Beer Festival . Receiving this award is a huge pat on the back for a local business in an industry usually associated with large multinational brewers.

Paul is a passionate cask conditioned real ale fan and brews a quality product, using the finest Maris Otter and Lager malt sourced from British farms, mixed with hops gathered from hop growers throughout the world. This combination gives a blend of bitterness and flavour that make our beers taste different. Dark night is available in casks and bottles.
Congratulations to Southport Rugby Football Club (SRFC) on 140 years. Southport Brewery has been commissioned by SRFC to launch 'Ruck & Maul' a celebratory ale in honour of the Rugby Clubs 140 year history. Available now at SRFC's ground this 4% ale is described as 'light bronze in colour with a subtle bitterness leading to a pleasant lemon and grapefruit flavour'.

We are pleased to offer this ale to you so look out for the distinctive pump clip designed in the shape of a Rugby ball. You can learn more about the SRFC's history on the club's website at www.southportrfc.com. Ruck & Maul is also available to the pub trade in casks and in 500ml bottles from outlets in Southport. Crouch, Touch, Pause, Engage and Enjoy!!
British Gold will be Southport Brewery's special ale for the 2012 Olympic Games. This 3.7% golden session ale is flavoured with Pioneer and Boadicea hops to give a fine lemon and grapefruit taste. So for those of you who wish beer drinking was an Olympic event, here is a beer to cheer the UK team with while you practice your arm curls and stretches.
Southport Brewery has brewed our traditional Mild, Dark Night. This 3.9% mild is currently available in casks by placing orders with the brewery and is a scrumptious drink.
With Spring almost upon us it is time to update you on a few news items from Southport Brewery

Our bottled beer range continues to grow and we have plans to launch another of our excellent beers into our bottled range. Watch this space for further news. Currently we bottle Golden Sands, Carousel, Cyclone and Old Shrimper (Bottle Conditioned). All these beers are excellent in the bottle and ideal for drinking either at home or whilst your travelling away, in bars or at functions and events.

Once again we have brewed our real ale 'National Hero' in honour of the great race horse Red Rum that won the Grand National at Aintree 3 times. This year will be especially emotional as not only is the beer in honour of Red Rum, but also his trainer and Owner Ginger McCain, who sadly passed away last year. We hope that all of you who raise a glass of National Hero will give a thought to toast the lives of these two National Hero's and keep the memory of them both, who did so much for the success of Aintree and the Grand National, alive in our hearts and minds. This years Grand National takes place on the 14th April and marks the final day of a three day meeting.
Carousel is now available in 500ml bottles from the usual outlets in and around the Southport and West Lancashire regions.
